Facelift

Prime Package patients receive a customized, all-inclusive package that includes surgery, skin care treatments, and injectables. These patients are seen every 1-2 months to follow up with Dr. Sitapara and simultaneously receive treatment over a full year. This plan includes Botox every 3-4 months, filler, chemical peels to address pigmentation, and microneedling to address fine lines. This is the most comprehensive method to address facial aging. When undergoing facelift surgery, patients will be administered anesthesia, ensuring a pain-free surgery. Post-surgery, patients should expect to have mild to moderate discomfort, but Dr. Sitapara can prescribe pain medication to alleviate any discomfort. The majority of patients take Tylenol for pain relief after the first 1-2 days. Patients are also recommended to elevate their heads and use cold compresses to aid with the swelling.

Dr. Sitapara would like to see patients the day after surgery to check on their healing and possibly remove any drains they might have placed. He will then want to see them a week after surgery to remove the sutures. Beyond that, Dr. Sitapara will keep patients informed on when he will see them next. Patients can expect a few more appointments following surgery in the next few months.

Even though patients might see immediate changes right after surgery, the bruising and swelling during the first few weeks will obscure the final result. While a majority of the swelling resolves after about three weeks, most patients will require about six months to a year to see their optimal facelift results.

The scarring depends on the type of facelift. For a deep-plane facelift, the scars are along the hairline or the scalp, whereas for a mini-facelift, the scarring is hidden within the hair, under the chin, or behind the ear. The scars will initially be pink and fade to the patient’s skin color with time. Patients are recommended to use scar gel, rest, hydrate, and follow post-operative instructions.

Patients are recommended to start with gentle walks the day after surgery to prevent any blood clots. They should avoid strenuous exertion or any activity that increases the heart rate or blood pressure for the first 2-3 weeks. Patients can return to heavy lifting and strenuous exercise with no restrictions at 4-6 weeks.

It is very common for patients to combine procedures with their facelift. A deep plane facelift with Dr. Sitapara also includes a deep neck lift (if indicated). The Prime Package also includes blepharoplasty, lip lift, or brow lift. The only limitation is the total time of surgery, which should not exceed ~6 hours. The goal is to help patients design the perfect surgery for their aesthetic goals.

Whether taking the train down from New York for their Facelift or flying into BWI for their surgery, our team can seamlessly coordinate their care due to our private surgical suite. Even with an expert facelift surgeon like Dr. Sitapara, this is still a surgery, so it’s important that patients understand potential risks.

While many of these side effects should heal on their own over time, if patients experience any long-lasting or unexpected reactions, we recommend they contact our office immediately.

We recommend that patients look into the surgeon’s board certifications and education. They should also research the surgeon’s facelift patient reviews of other patients in the DC and Baltimore area.
