What’s the
first step?

The first step to embarking on a neck lift in the Baltimore area is to schedule a consultation with double board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Sitapara. During your consultation, Dr. Sitapara will discuss your health history, aesthetic goals, needs, and any concerns you might have about the procedure. As he examines your neck, he will also share the techniques best for your case and your goals, with the associated risk-benefit analysis of each technique.

Once you both agree on a plan of action, Dr. Sitapara will draft a customized surgical plan, which you can then take to the patient concierge to schedule the procedure, finalize billing options, and receive any pre-operative instructions.

What to Expect on the Day of Neck Lift Surgery

On the day of your facelift in Maryland, Dr. Sitapara and his team will welcome you to our world-class surgery center, help you settle for the procedure, and go over your surgical plan with you again. Once you are satisfied, a board-certified anesthesiologist will administer sedation to ensure you are pain-free throughout the surgery. The type of anesthesia will be discussed during your initial consultation.

Once you are sedated, Dr. Sitapara will expertly start making incisions. The type and size of these incisions will depend on your target goals for your neck lift. Most commonly, a single incision is made under the chin. For individuals older than 40, additional incisions behind the ears may be necessary. If jowling is present, Dr. Sitapara may recommend a minimally invasive facelift or deep plane facelift to address the neck and face more comprehensively.

Once Dr. Sitapara has lifted the jawline and neckline as much as possible to create a natural-looking contour, he will close the incisions using sutures. Those sutures must either be removed in a few days or dissolve if they are the dissolving kind.

Neck Lift Recovery

After the procedure, Dr. Sitapara and his team will monitor you in the recovery room until the sedation wears off. We recommend you have a family member or a friend drive you home to be extra careful as the effects of sedation might linger.

After surgery, the neck might be tight, swollen, and sore. We encourage patients to rest and avoid strenuous activities for a few weeks after the procedure. Patients may need to wear a compression garment for several days to support the neck and keep the swelling down to a minimum. Drains may be placed to speed up the healing process and decrease the risk of fluid accumulation.
