Lip Fillers

Introduction to Lip Fillers

Lips are one of the most intricate areas in nonsurgical facial aesthetics, requiring technical expertise and an artistic approach. Therefore, it’s essential to consider the lips as part of the overall facial balance and address them at the final stage of facial reshaping.

The Prime Facial Plastic Surgery technique gently enhances the natural pillows of the lips, known as tubercles, and uses subtle injections inside the lip’s border (vermillion border) to add vertical height. Unlike techniques that inject directly into the vermillion border and push the lips outward—resulting in an unnatural “duck lip”— our technique works with the natural anatomy, producing a soft, natural look.

Our approach consistently delivers beautiful, understated, and natural results. An added benefit of augmenting the tubercles is the creation of a subtle, pouty shape in the center of the lips.

What Are Lip Fillers?

Lip fillers are the secret to plumper, more defined lips without the need for surgery. These gel-like injections utilize synthetic hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in your body that draws in moisture for a beautifully lush and natural feel.

Every provider and region of the United States has a different aesthetic when it comes to lip fillers, and at Prime Facial Plastic Surgery, we opt for natural-looking enhancements. These treatments accentuate your existing anatomy to lead to a more defined and fuller lip appearance.

  • “I went to Dr. Sitapara for lip injections, chemical peel, and microneedling. He was very professional but also extremely welcoming. He gave me his honest advice on what I asked for with my lip injections. Guided me to what looked good with my features, without me walking out looking overdone and obvious. The chemical peel and microneedling have made me look refreshed. Removed the rough skin and gave me a brighter appearance. I highly recommend him.”

Who Are the Best Candidates for Lip Fillers?

Getting lip fillers is a personal and empowering decision to enhance your look. To be considered for lip fillers, you should be in good physical health, have realistic expectations, and not have an active oral infection such as canker sores or cold sores. Many people choose lip fillers to increase the size of their lips, restore previous volume lost with age, correct asymmetry, or smooth out wrinkles around the mouth.

    Let’s Get Started

    What’s the
    first step?

You will first schedule a consultation with double board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Sitapara, where you will chat about your medical history, goals, and expectations for your lip fillers. This ensures no health conditions could interfere with your fabulous new look. Once cleared, you can get your lip injections on the same day as your consultation.

What to Expect on the Day of a Lip Filler Treatment

First, our team will apply a specially formulated numbing cream to your lips to minimize discomfort. After about 15 to 30 minutes, your lips will be nicely numb and ready for the magic to happen.

Next, we will use a super-thin needle to inject the filler into various parts of your lips, including the edges, the Cupid’s bow, and the corners. Ice is used during the procedure to minimize swelling. Patients can expect a mild amount of discomfort during the procedure and often experience unintentional tearing of the eyes.

    Lip Fillers Recovery

After your lip injections, our team will apply ice or gently massage your lips to help the filler settle in nicely. You will then be able to drive yourself home without any issues. Expect some swelling and mild bruising around your lips, but this will resolve on its own. Ice can help ease any discomfort and reduce swelling. To ensure everything heals perfectly, avoid lipstick or lip balm for at least a day, and be gentle when eating, drinking, and brushing your teeth.
