What Are PRP Injections?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections are an innovative, minimally invasive, non-surgical technique for prompting healing using a patient’s own plasma. The process involves drawing blood and placing it in a centrifuge to separate the plasma, which can then be re-injected or microneedled into targeted areas to accelerate the healing process and promote regeneration.

Uses for PRP Injections

Improve your skin’s appearance – PRP can reduce wrinkles, plump the skin, and improve your complexion, including helping reduce the appearance of acne scars and overall skin texture and tone. PRP can be injected using a syringe or microneedling or combined with dermal fillers. When combined with microneedling, this is called a “vampire facial.” 

Hairline restoration – Male or female pattern baldness and alopecia are very common worldwide, but not everyone requires a full transplant. Clinical studies have discovered that PRP can stimulate hair growth. It can be used alone or in combination with hair transplants, and it can increase the proliferation of dermal papilla cells, which regulate hair follicle growth.

first step?

During your consultation, Dr. Sitapara will evaluate your medical history and your reasons for choosing a PRP injection treatment. Depending on your needs, Dr. Sitapara will assess the areas of your skin or hair experiencing volume or hair loss. If you are experiencing a soft tissue injury, he will evaluate the area and its current healing trajectory.

Dr. Sitapara will then be able to recommend a suitable course of PRP injections and any other procedures that may help you reach your aesthetic goals. Together, you will develop a customized treatment plan to help deliver optimal results. The Prime Facial team will then help you schedule your procedure, review pricing, and provide you with instructions to prepare for your treatment.

What to Expect on the Day of a PRP Injection Treatment

On the first day of your PRP injection treatment series, our patient coordinators will greet you and make sure you are comfortable before meeting with Dr. Sitapara to review any remaining questions or concerns. Once you feel ready, your skin will be cleansed and prepped. A vial of blood will be drawn, then placed into a centrifuge and spun to separate out your plasma. This plasma is then prepped for re-injection into the targeted areas discussed in your consultation.

The entire process is relatively smooth and painless. The majority of Prime Facial Plastic Surgery patients are free to go home and resume their normal routines the same day.

PRP Injections Recovery

Patients receiving PRP injections may experience mild swelling and tenderness immediately after their procedure. These side effects can be managed with a cold compress or ice pack. If the discomfort persists, patients may use over-the-counter pain medication to manage their symptoms. These symptoms should reduce over the next few days. Dr. Sitapara advises patients to follow post-treatment instructions to maximize their results.
